WVU says it generates millions for state economy

MORGANTOWN -- West Virginia University says for every dollar in state funding it receives, it returns $19 to West Virginia's economy.
The university's finding is contained in an economic impact study the school's Bureau of Business and Economic Research did on the Morgantown university, its affiliated operations and branch campuses.
Researchers looked at WVU's economic impact for the 12-month period between July 1, 2006, and last June 30.
During that time, WVU received about $203 million in state funds and generated nearly $4 billion in business volume.
