An electrical fire in the football press box at Winfield Tuesday has forced the school to move Friday's season opener to Hurricane.
The Generals were supposed to play host to their county rivals from Hurricane, but crews said late Wednesday that won't be possible.
"It's a big game and a big gate [but] at this point, there's no way,'' said Winfield assistant principal Bruce McGrew. "We're going to have to wait and see when they test the lines [today] about what happens in the future.''
Winfield is scheduled to play another home game on Sept. 5 against Lincoln County.
