In Season

Small game

  • Cottontail rabbits may be hunted through Feb. 29. The bag limit is five rabbits a day.
  • Raccoons may be hunted through Feb. 29. The bag limit is four raccoons a night.
  • Snowshoe hares may be hunted through Feb. 29. The bag limit is two hares a day.
  • Upland birds

  • Ruffed grouse may be hunted through Feb. 29. The bag limit is four grouse a day.
  • Waterfowl

  • Geese may be hunted through Tuesday. The bag limit is five geese a day.
  • Varmints

  • Foxes may be hunted through Feb. 29. There is no bag limit.
  • Bobcats may be hunted through Feb. 29. The bag limit is three bobcats a year.
  • Coyotes may be hunted year-round during the day, and until July 31 at night. There is no bag limit.

  • West Virginia's hunting season for raccoons will end at midnight.
