Rand fugitive captured by sheriff's deputies
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A man who escaped from a sheriff's deputy in the Rand area late Sunday was recaptured in Chesapeake on Monday.
Deputies spent Sunday night and Monday morning looking for Andrew Ryan Nomar, 20, according to Kanawha County Metro 911 officials.
Sheriff's Lt. Bryan Robbins said Nomar was detained late Sunday while deputies were investigating a burglary in progress. He said Nomar fit the description of one of two men allegedly seen breaking into a house on Midland Drive.
Robbins said Deputy J.M. Martin left Nomar unattended in his patrol car while investigating the break-in, and Nomar escaped while still wearing handcuffs.
Sheriff's deputies found Nomar on Venable Avenue on Monday, Robbins said. He was taken into custody and charged with destruction of property, burglary and escape from custody. He is being held in South Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $25,000 cash-only bail.
