CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Democrat Nick Rahall is the latest West Virginia congressman to join a new coal caucus in Congress.

Rahall said Thursday the group can help the Democratic leadership rally supporters and share information about issues concerning coal and mining.

Rahall joins a group that already includes the state's two other U.S. House members, Democrat Alan Mollohan and Republican Shelley Moore Capito.

Capito announced the group's formation Monday. She says the caucus is aimed at promoting awareness of coal and technology that may make it cleaner and safer, among other things.

Rahall should not be joining, he should have been one of the founding members!!! Why is he waiting for others to protect his constituents interest?

The comment by pickingrass clearly illustrates the confusion between real science and the media focus on inflating controversies where none actually exist. The scientific confidence that global warming is occurring continues to be overwhelming, but that would not make much of a news story. Couple this gullibility of reporters seeking to promulgate a controversy, with the connivance of the fossil fuel industry desperate to overturn the scientific evidence, and the only controversy we actually see is a political one. Politicians desperate to cling to the status quo will seize on phony claims as "evidence" that we do not need to act. Shame on those who think that past profits are more important than our children's future, and shame on those reporters who are too ignorant, lazy, or greedy to see through the simplistic misinformation campaigns of the fossil fuel industry, particularly when those long-term temperature trends continue to stare them in the face with undeniable evidence.

ABC News asks, “Can Climate Forecasts Still Be Trusted?” January 28, 2010

“Confidence Melting Away: Doubts Grow in Climate Change Debate” Yes, ABC News actually said that. Maybe there is hope that the mainstream media will start reporting, stop advocating.
