HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. -- The huge crowds expected for President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration are spilling over into West Virginia, where hotels throughout the Eastern Panhandle are booked solid.

Hotels as far away as Morgan County, a two-hour drive from Washington, D.C., report being full that weekend.

Even campgrounds, like the Harpers Ferry KOA Campground, are seeing Obama supporters from Texas and California booking cabins.

Tom Belfield, general manager of the Holiday Inn in Martinsburg, says all 120 rooms are booked, and he can't even offer suggestions to people asking where they might find a vacancy.

To accommodate the crowds, the Maryland Rail Commuter Service, which runs two trains daily from Martinsburg to the nation's capital, may add additional runs on Inauguration Day on Jan. 20.

Whether people want to admit it or not, but the anticipation of this new President is making alot of people money. I agree we are in a recession, but due to President Obama's popularity, people are making money off of him. Just like the guy in Ohio with the resturant that sold Obama a piece of pie. Newspapers across the country have had to reprint their election day editions to keep up with the demand. So don't tell me these people aren't benefiting off this new President. Its a shame when the current President hosts a economic summit and the world leaders really came to look forward to engaging with the President-elect. Thats got to hurt "W"s feelings a little bit.
