CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston Newspapers and the West Virginia Automobile and Truck Dealers Association are again sponsoring an annual food and coat drive to help the less fortunate in the community.
Area residents are asked to donate warm coats and sweaters as well as food items. All donations will be distributed to local charities including Mountain Mission, Heart and Hand House, the Salvation Army and the Union Mission.
The drive will continue through Dec. 1.

While there is nothing wrong with voluntarily helping those in need, true improvement of the problem lies in a far greater degree of personal responsibility, not a predictable donation schedule.
