  • Kanawha County Board of Education will meet for its regular session at 6 p.m. at the Central Office, 200 Elizabeth St.
  • FUTURE EVENTS

  • Charleston City Council of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority will have its annual tea from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the South Charleston library. Chapter vice presidents will provide refreshments.
  • West Virginia Board of Registration for Foresters semiannual meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the state Division of Forestry's State Office, Guthrie Agricultural Complex, Building 13. The board will review licensing applications and discuss other business matters.
  • REV UP will hold a huge rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Madison Civic Center. Concessions will be available. Proceeds will benefit (Revitalize, Energize, Visualize) Madison, a group dedicated to revitalizing Main Street Madison.
  • Alzheimer's Association, West Virginia Chapter will host the 2008 Charleston Memory Walk on Saturday at Appalachian Power Park. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with the 2-mile walk kicking off at 10:30 a.m. Festivities include entertainment, kids games, food and prizes. Community members are encouraged to form a team or join the walk as an individual walker. Participants can register online at www.alz.org/wv or call (800) 491-2717. Walkers who raise $75 or more receive an official Memory Walk 2008 commemorative T-shirt.
  • 18th Annual St. Albans "Walk Against Hunger" will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday beginning at the City Loop parking lot in St. Albans. All proceeds from the walk benefit Christ's Kitchen, Food Pantry, Care and Share and the Jericho House. The walk is conducted mostly on Kanawha Terrace and Sixth Avenue and includes a variety of walkers. Walkers can obtain sponsors or individual donations can be made directly "Walk Against Hunger." Send donations in care of Dot Finn at 1097 Highland Drive, St. Albans, WV 25177. For information, call Clarence Williams at 722-3364.
  • Hansford Senior Center in St. Albans will host the C&O Modelers Show from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 1; and noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 2 at the center, 500 Washington St., St. Albans. Admission is free. Concessions and home-baked goods will be available. The Hansford Seniors will have a bazaar of handmade items to raise money for handicapped-accessible entry doors for the center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 1 and 1 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 2.   • Putnam County schools invites parents, teachers, school administrators and community members who have an interest in the educational needs of English language learners to attend the first meeting of the Bringing Resources and Ideas to Develop Great English Language Learners Group from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 1 at the Putnam County Board of Education.
