MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. -- A man who had sex with a mentally disabled nursing home resident has been sentenced to one to five years in prison.
Roy Reed Sheldon was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty in Marshall County Circuit Court to third-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual abuse and indecent exposure.
Sheldon was arrested last year after a 57-year-old female resident of the Dora Allietta Memorial Home in Moundsville told a worker that he'd touched her inappropriately and had sex with her. Sheldon said the sex was consensual, but authorities said the woman has the mental capacity of a 2-year-old child.
Sheldon was living at the facility with his wife, who worked there.
The home was shut down last year after officials determined that residents weren't properly cared for.
