Music

  • Third Annual Gospel Singin' at the Lake will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Mountain Lake Campground Amphitheater, Airport Road, Summersville Lake. The sing is sponsored by Reach By Faith Ministries. Many local groups will sing and admission is free. Seating is available, or bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. Food and refreshments will be available.
  • BrighterSide Quartet will sing at 6 p.m. today at Advent Christian Church in Clendenin and also at 7 p.m. on Sunday at Community Chapel in Cross Lanes.
  • Happy Valley Boys will sing at the Sylvester homecoming at 4 p.m. Sunday and at 7 p.m. July 12 at South Ruffner Freewill Baptist Church.
  • Homeland Southern Gospel Sing will be held July 11 at 7 p.m. at Seventh Avenue Baptist Church, 240 Seventh Ave. W., Huntington.
  • Ronnie Hinson (of the original Hinsons) from Nashville, Tenn., will sing at 7 p.m. July 12 at Keith Full Gospel Church. For information, call 837-7557 or 837-3965.
  • Utah Community Church will have a bluegrass gospel concert at 6 p.m. July 11 featuring the Kidd Brothers. For information, call Donnie Staats at 984-1892.
  • Bob and Jeanne Johnson from Charlotte, N.C., will sing at 10 a.m. July 13 at the King's River Worship Center, Kanawha City.
  • Starcher Baptist Church 2624 Sixth Ave., Charleston, will have a gospel sing at 7 p.m. July 18 featuring the Brighterside Quartet and the Royalmen. 
  • Bluegrass Gospel recording artist Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver will be a part of a musical event July 27 at the Summersville Music Park. This group was awarded Vocal Group of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association for the past seven years and has also received the honor of IBMA's Gospel Performance of the Year.
  • Vacation Bible school

  • Kanawha City Baptist Church will have vacation Bible school Sunday through Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The theme is "Jesus: A True Superhero." For information or preregistration, call 925-7132.
  • Trinity Independent Baptist Church at Ruth/Trace Fork will have a "God's Big Back Yard" vacation Bible school program from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 7-12. For information, call 744-1653.
  • Rensford Baptist Church, Campbells Creek, will have Bible school beginning at 6 p.m. nightly July 14-18.
  • Esta Baptist Church, Witcher Creek, will have vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. July 14-18. The theme is "Treasure Mine."
