Anniversaries

  • St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 821 B St., St. Albans, will present the seventh pastoral and first-lady anniversary for the Rev. Dr. Michael A. Sr. and Mary Poke on May 31-June 1. First lady's night for Mary Poke will be held at 6 p.m. May 31. Speaker will be Minister Mary Clements, associate minister of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Music will be provided by St. Paul Children and Youth Choir. Sunday school will be held at 9:30 a.m. June 1 and services will be held at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The Sanctuary Choir and Praise Dancers will be featured at the 11 a.m. service. Speaker will be the Rev. Roy E. Terry, pastor of 16th Street Missionary Baptist Church. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. The anniversary service will be held at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Reginald Hill, pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church as speaker. Music will be provided by the Antioch Sanctuary Choir. St. Paul Baptist Church is featured on a radio broadcast on 1300 AM.   • Herbert J. Thomas Memorial Detachment No. 947, Marine Corps League will sponsor a flag-folding ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday at Chelyan Baptist Church.
  • Faith Fellowship will have a church yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 31 at the church. The yard sale will be held rain or shine. Hot dogs and baked goods will also be sold. The church is located 0.2 tenths of a mile off of W.Va. 21 on Casdorph Road and is on the left.
  • The Liberty Missionary Baptist Church presents its monthly prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. today at the church, 1343 Lewis St. Speaker will be the Rev. Carl Rawls of Selma, Ala.
  • Pastor Wayne R. Crozier and Abundant Life Ministries, 1534 Washington St. E., will have a church/community picnic from 1 to 5 p.m. May 31 on the church parking lot. There will be free food and games for the residents of the East End.
  • Greater Emmanuel Youth will have a car wash/bake sale beginning 9 a.m. today at Advance Auto on Virginia Street, across from the Save-A-Lot store. All proceeds are for a trip for the youth to take this summer. Donations will be appreciated.
  • The Men's Day committee of St. Paul AME Church, 1108 Second Ave., will sponsor a car wash and hot dog sale at 10 a.m. today on the church parking lot. The YPD organization of St. Paul AME Church will sponsor a youth prayer breakfast at 9:30 a.m. May 31. All youth and their parents are invited. Minister Elisha Tolliver will be guest speaker and special music will be provided.
  • Allen's Fork Community Church, Sissonville, will have a ramp dinner with all the fixin's, from 4 to 7 p.m. May 31. The cost is $7 for all you can eat. For information, call 755-7626.
  • The Divorce Care video seminar will be given at Highlawn Baptist Church in St. Albans, beginning June 1. The 13-week program is for anyone that is divorced, separated or thinking about divorce. The class will run from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. in the church, located at 2304 Jefferson Ave. There is no charge for the class.   • The "Rollin' on 2 for U" Christian motorcycle rally, sponsored by Engel Chapel Community Church, will be held June 7 at Kenton Meadows Field in Gassaway. The event will benefit outreaches of Hospice Care Corp., their Indigent Care Fund and Camp Nabe Bereavement Camp. Participants can ride in honor or memory of a loved one for $20 - with an additional rider on the bike, $25. Included in the registration fee is a Christian bluegrass concert and pork dinner that follows the ride. The concert and dinner are open to nonriders for a nominal fee. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Kenton Meadows Field with the ride beginning at 10 a.m. Participants will travel through Braxton, Calhoun and Gilmer counties with three stops slated in Arnoldsburg, Cedar Creek State Park and Burnsville. Riders will return to Kenton Meadows Field for the evening festivities.   • The Hager Family will sing at 7 p.m. Monday at Lucy Wilson Baptist Church in Elkview.
  • The Clendenin First Baptist Church, Virginia Avenue and Jarrett Street, Clendenin, is having a special praise concert at 7 p.m. June 1. This concert will feature Randy White Quartet from Procious. A love offering will be taken.
  • Ann Taylor will sing at 7 p.m. Sunday at The Meadowbrook Freewill Baptist Church, located on W.Va. 114 North.
  • Gospel Word will sing at 7 p.m. today at a song and prayer service at Red Oak Christian Community Church, Red Oak Drive, Nitro.
