Woman charged with DUI, endangering 9-month-old

A Boone County woman was charged with endangering her 9-month-old child after West Virginia State Police pulled her over for driving recklessly on U.S. 119 Monday.

Ashley Nicole Ulbrich, 21, was stopped by State Police after they were called about a woman driving a green Jeep recklessly on U.S. 119, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Officers attempted to perform a field sobriety test on Ulbrich but stopped the test because they were afraid for her safety, the complaint states.

Ulbrich later admitted to having taken two Clonazepam pills in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Charleston.

The child was found in the back of the Jeep when police pulled Ulbrich over, according to the complaint.

She was charged with child neglect resulting in risk of injury and driving under the influence with a minor in the vehicle. She was taken to South Central Regional Jail Monday evening.
